Party Time

I love to have little get togethers/parties…whatever you want to call them. I am always coming up with some random reason to have people over. Well, tomorrow is no exception.

Each year at Christmas, my mom hosts a “bring your favorite appetizer” party on Christmas Eve. This year I have so many new appetizers I want to make that I decided I would like to have a “bring your favorite appetizer” party with our friends. The party is tomorrow and I am excited.

Each person is assigned to bring his or her favorite appetizer, and in the spirit of Christmas, a white elephant gift. I’ll put on some Christmas movies. You know, the classics…Christmas Vacation, Elf, etc. and we’ll just eat, drink, and be merry. Hey, that’s my name…no shit? Oh sorry, I got derailed.

A few new appetizers I want to try are:
·         Brazilian Cheese Balls - have you ever been to one of those Brazilian steakhouses? You know, the ones where they carry around sticks of meat? Well, these little bundles of joy are what they serve at the beginning. They are so freaking good! I just hope I can recreate them.
·         Pretzel Bites - just little mini pretzel bites served with cheese dipping sauce.
·         Jalapeno Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms - I have made stuffed mushrooms a million times, but I usually use sausage, peppers, onions, etc. So, we’ll see how these little duders turn out.
·         Pizza Bites - pretty self explanatory - I think I will try a variety - sausage and mushroom, pepperoni and green pepper, maybe even some Hawaiian.
·         Italian Skewers - with pepperoni, salami, fresh mozzarella cheese, tomato, and olives. I think a nice balsamic drizzle will go great with these.

Some of the classics that are always a hit are:
·         Lil’ Smokies in BBQ sauce - I prefer spicy BBQ sauce.
·         Sausage, Rotel, and Cream Cheese Dip - this stuff is so good! Just serve with chips and little chunks of bread.
·         Spicy queso dip - who doesn’t love fake melted cheesy goodness?
·         Meats and cheeses - (say in a southern accent - “you serve up nice meats and cheeses, that’s something isn’t it?”)

John, on the other hand, has decided to take a much simpler route. He is going to just fry up some bacon and call it good. If you can’t tell, he really likes bacon! Maybe he’ll come up with a clever display. Yeah, I doubt it :)

Now that is a lot of appetizers. I won’t try them all tomorrow, but I will try them all between the two parties. You serious, Clark? :)
