I am new to this whole blogging thing. How many people do you think put "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" as their blog title this time of year? I bet a ton. John and I have been getting ready for Christmas...AND when I say John and I, I really mean I have been getting ready for Christmas. Let's see. A couple of things to mention.
We put up the Christmas tree a few weeks back. That in itself was quite the adventure. We have a tall, skinny pre-lit Christmas tree. John put the bottom piece of the tree on, plugged it in and everything worked. Then comes section number two. John puts the section on, plugs it in and the top 1/3 section of lights didn't light up. Well, I was pissed because it is one of those trees that is supposed to light up even if a bulb goes out. This doesn't seem to bother John, so he adds section number three plugs it in and walks away. REALLY?? Well, I am hell bent and determined to get that tree working. I start going bulb-by-bulb through the tree and soon enough I come across the bulb that was causing the problem...well, I should say the bulb I thought was causing the problem. I hold the bulb (making sure not to lose that sucker--it took me a good 30 minutes to find it) and yell upstairs for John to come down. John comes running down grabs a replacement and quickly tells me it is not that bulb. So, the search begins again. Both of us are huddled up to the tree, looking for the bulb that is seriously starting to ruin my day! A few minutes later, John finds the bulb. It is broken, but a small piece of it is sticking out. As I am watching intently, John grabs the broken bulb and the tree lights right up and John starts yelling "ow, ow, ow." Sure enough, John "completed the circuit" and shocked the sh*t out of himself. At this point, I am giggling (well maybe cackling) because I find him getting shocked to be extremely funny. So, what does he do, grabs the bulb again and shocks the sh*t out of himself for a second time! Well, I am more than giggling at this point, but manage to unplug the lights to assure he doesn't shock himself a third time. I think sometimes guys just don't learn :) Either way, the tree is up and John is recovering nicely!
Story number two: My niece Olivia just danced in her Christmas concert. Livvy is in the first grade and is a character to say the least. Anyway...I drag John to this dance recital, which he tells me he has never been to a dance recital. Well, apparently it has been years since I have been to one too because I was certainly surprised. All the little girls who danced were so stinking cute...it was the older (40+) ladies who struck me as a little odd. It was quite the experience. I saw a "fly girl" routine, several modern dance interpretations (oh dear), and there were even some gals who were pregnant. It was quite an adventure! Guess I am going to have to sign up for some dance lessons if I want to participate in next year's concert.
That's it for now. Hope you enjoy this little blog.
